The mission of the Teaching Kitchen is to teach the community and medical professionals how to eat healthier. This goes hand-in-hand with the mission of the Healthplex Fitness Center, which together will work to improve the future of a community that struggles with one of the nation’s highest rates of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and malnutrition. A healthy diet and a regular exercise regimen are about keeping people out of the hospital, enhancing the quality of life for area residents and lowering the cost of healthcare.
As a means to this end, our experts will educate students on both healthy and tasty food choices and preparation.
