About Us

In a community besieged by obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease, the goal of our team of registered dietitians and chefs is to demonstrate the clear link between food and health by teaching people how to cook in a healthy and tasty way.  After all, you are what you eat.

The mission of the Teaching Kitchen is to teach the community and medical professionals how to eat healthier.  This goes hand-in-hand with the mission of the Healthplex Fitness Center, which together will work to improve the future of a community that struggles with one of the nation’s highest rates of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and malnutrition.  A healthy diet and a regular exercise regimen are about keeping people out of the hospital, enhancing the quality of life for area residents and lowering the cost of healthcare.

As a means to this end, our experts will educate students on both healthy and tasty food choices and preparation.
